Candra Noelle Dufek

Candra Noelle Dufek has been creating art for as long as she can remember. Born in 1983, she grew up surrounded by horses, wildlife, and the outdoors. What began with drawings of horses and unicorns gradually developed into a lifelong fascination with realistic wildlife and sporting-dog portraiture.

Her artistic talent was recognized at an early age. At 12, Candra became the youngest individual to have an official stamp created and inducted into the United States Postal Service Commemorative Collection. By 16, she had designed and created her high school logo. Shortly thereafter, she was accepted into Northern Arizona University’s Art Program.

At Northern Arizona University, Candra’s love of art and the outdoors continued to develop together. She pursued independent study in fine art while refining her approach to realistic wildlife portraiture. She graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degree in Fine Art.

Today, Candra’s work centers on wildlife and sporting dogs, inspired by her lifelong connection to the outdoors. Her paintings and drawings explore the character and individuality of animals through careful observation, light, atmosphere, and distinctive use of color.

Her work includes original wildlife paintings, sporting-dog portraits, limited-edition prints, and commissioned artwork in a variety of mediums. Her sporting-dog portraits are particularly personal, capturing not only the physical likeness of each dog but also the character that makes each one unique.

Candra’s connection to sporting dogs extends well beyond her artwork. An active participant in the sporting-dog community, she trains and works with her own dogs, participates in hunting and field activities, and enjoys sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for the sport with others. These experiences give her an intimate understanding of the dogs she portrays and the partnership between a sporting dog and its handler.

Candra’s artwork has been exhibited and collected by wildlife organizations, private collectors, and sporting-dog enthusiasts. She continues to create original work while accepting a limited number of commissions.

Art & Inspiration

For Candra, art and the outdoors have always been inseparable. Time spent hunting, exploring, observing wildlife, training dogs, and participating in sporting-dog activities continually informs her work. Whether painting a wild elk or creating a portrait of a beloved hunting companion, her goal is to capture something beyond physical likeness—the presence, personality, and spirit of the subject.
